Christmas eve + Christmas day we’re dedicated family days, and we snuck in one last little holi-date for just us two on Christmas Eve-eve - whipped up my favorite Fettuccine Alredo with Kale + Walnut Pesto and Crispy Cauliflower for a cozy dinner before the family festivities got underway. After a busy day spreading Christmas cheer to neighbors + some business peeps, and sneaking out for a little happy hour, I’m happy and impressed we pulled this off to cap off the day.
Read MoreHalloween at home was big on the Fall foods, & I’m happy for what we put together + enjoyed. Dinners + happy hours had a little extra Fall flair, and it’s been fun to enjoy with our usual dose of Halloween flicks.
Read MorePotato Tacos are a bite of childhood, & one of the most delish ways to serve up a plain old potato, and do so without clouding that flavor with a ton of extra stuff. Potatoes + tortillas + a little seasoning salt - you’re set! The end result - the French fries of the taco realm. They’re salty, savory, crunchy, & don’t totally fall apart the moment you bite into them
Read MoreI’ve taken the route of taking a lot of enjoyment in our Thanksgiving For Just Us Two tradition (no matter what day it actually occurs), and this year might have been our best pseudo Thanksgiving yet.
Read MoreBeing that’s is Summer, and my husband loves Hawaiian takeout, injecting some tropical vibes into a weekly meal just seemed warranted. So I leaned into the Backyard Luau theme, & can officially confirm that nothing shakes a Monday like pina-coladas at-home.
Read MoreWe. Made. Gnocchi. After sitting on my kitchen bucket list for quite some time, me & my kitchen faced the challenge of homemade pasta. In my mind, I chalked it up as a project that would take all day, result in flour all over me + my home, and just be this thing that I needed tackle vs. thoroughly enjoy. Yes - scratch gnocchi hasi been a project I’ve wanted to complete, but
Read MoreIt was an (early) Cinco de Mayo party at our house this weekend. Queue the tequila cocktails + Mexican beer + Nacho Libre on the tube (we actually did watch Nacho Libre). But the real highlight of our at-home fiesta - Al Pastor Tacos. That juicy pork weaved with flavors of pineapple, orange, and a definitive hint of spice. Too die!
Read MoreMidweek quarantine party theme - cookie bake off. Also just our excuse to fill the house with the smell of sweet, fresh baked cookies, and load up on some freezer friendly treats. I mean - frozen homemade cookies that you can pop out right after dinner and enjoy as a little late night treat. Um - heavenly. & so much better than the couple of Oreos
Read MoreW'e’ve been cranking out the evening date-nights and incorporating some fun stuff into nightly hangs that aren’t binge watching tv (I was kinda over that after Tiger King). Puzzling, joint reading, longer & deeper convos. I’ve really quite enjoyed the newly explored activities.
Read MoreOne of my go-to, favorite, repeat it at least once a year date nights - Chinese Restaurant. Going out to eat Chinese Food with my family was a favorite Sunday activity for me. We’d very often dedicate Sunday evenings to spending time with my Grandma Mary. Scooping her up from her house and taking her out on the town for a little family dinner was pretty routine. For me, It’s a fond memory
Read MoreWhen Cinco de Mayo rolls around, I’m ready to turn the Zehner house into a full on taqueria for at least a day. Cinco is kind of special to us simply because we love tacos, beans, and nacho cheese, and we love to force all of our friends to like those things once a year, too, by throwing a Cinco Fiesta every year. & one thing is always consistent - we go hard with that menu. The scenery is a little different this year with this being our first Spring in our new home, but I refuse to let the tradition die.
Read MoreBurgers are my love language. No truer words could be spoken about me. I literally LIVE for a good burger and enjoy no food more than a good, juicy burger. I’m 100% obsessed - from $50 burgers at James Beard restaurants (that’s definitely happened) to ones from the actual burger shack around the corner from my house…I love them all. & if I had no conscience about calories and what I was putting into my body, I would happily put on 15 pounds of burger weight.
Read MoreIt has taken approximately 2 years, but I’ve finally done it. I’ve gotten through the OG Star Wars movies & I’m thoroughly versed on the trilogy. & though it’s taken literally years & lots of prompting from my husband for this to happen, we did it, had fun along the way, and we went hard for our at-home Star Wars Party!
