NYE + Negroni Sbagliatos
NYE 2024 in a nutshell - Jordan won the jackpot at the casino (had to fill out a W2 + all), we got dressed up for a cozy New Years at home, Jordan curated our very own at-home fish fry (favorite champagne + all), and all of us made it to midnight - dogs included. Truly it was such a nice cozy night in, and just a good way to send off the holidays. We ate on our holiday plates for the last time, gave our holiday glassware one last run for their money, and just ended the year on a fun, festive high note.
We spent part of our NYW talking about this past year (of course), and the conclusion is we had a lot of fun this year. Like so much fun - more fun + different fun than other years. My number one question at the dinner table was how are we going to top it in 2025? From travel to making memories at home to small scale adventures with the dogs - a lot of really happy memories were made in 2024. I feel like I grew as a person, and dedicated more time to creating fun moments for myself. I prioritized myself and our family in a way that just kept us happy. I said yes to being around the people I love so much, and feel confident love me too, and spent far less time trying to “make it work” with people that maybe don’t leave me feeling so great. I prioritized surrounding myself with love + support, and said forget it to anything else. I learned not to sweat the small stuff, and that has lead to having a lot more fun. Like big mess going down at the house? Not going to mess up my day. I made time for more projects + hobbies that spark joy. I learned to be in the moment + be present, and focusing on that is something I’ll be carrying into this next year. We made the most of our time at home. We made an effort to spend extra quality time with the dogs, and the moments we shared with family + friends were nothing but sweet and happy. They were moments where our house was so full of life! A bit chaotic? Sure, but in the best way. I loved it! Even just scrolling through the photos from this past year, I’m reminded of all these fun moments that were part of my life, I feel so lucky. A lot of love was shared in our home this year, and my biggest hope is to say the same thing at the end of 2025.
Another big topics of dicussion - New Years resolutions. What can I say - I love ‘em! I love setting resolutions and trying just implement small things to be better. This past year, we worked on getting fully dressed more often. I literally cackle thinking about it, but that was the number 1 goal I set for myself this year. Call if self awareness, but I had a moment of clarity where I realized that I need to make it out of LuluLemon more than like twice a week. What can I say - I wanted to be more intentional of wearing the cute shit in closet. And what did I learn? That I feel so much better about myself when my hair is done + I’ve got a good outfit on. I even have a little more pep in my step going to Whole Foods. Fast forward to this year, I have decided that the theme will be being a healthier, happier, and more productive version of myself. What that means exactly, I’m still sussing out, but it’s the 2025 theme for me, and I love it.
All the 2024 reflection + resolution setting took place while we did one of our favorite things - snacking on a cheeseboard + sipping a good quality at-home cocktail. The preparation of these items being my only responsibility for a cozy dinner at home, so I was determined to do them well. Busted out our favorite holiday cheese + sought a cocktail that would pair with the NYE vibe perfectly. Cocktail of choice - a Negroni Sbagliato. It’s a negroni that swaps the gin for champagne, and it’s honestly perfect. All the classic, bitter flavors of a classic negroni with a bright + bubbly twist. Totally delish + perfect for sipping alongside a cheeseboard.
For the cocktail
1 oz. vermouth
1/2 oz. campari
4 oz. prosecco or dry chamagne
lemon peel for garnish
Add the vermouth + campari to a rocks glass. Add in a large cocktail ice cube. Top with bubbles + stir to combine. Serve with a lemon twist on top + enjoy.
